Hi Chuck,

I appreciate you remembering me. I've been out of pocket a little. I took a two-month trip to the US with my family. I didn't know how much I needed that until I did it. It's the longest I've been in the States in over 7 years.

As far as the stories and the 12-step groups. It's an idea I toyed with and ended up not doing, though I'd like to one day. In one of our churches here, the pastor began to lead a celebrate recovery training class with the intention of using this to help people with their addictions and such. I noticed that in this neighborhood, most of those struggling with addictions are oral learners. I took the 12 steps and tried to find a story or two to bring each step to life.

Probably when the church gets the ministry going well, I will try to mentor a couple of the leaders in the basics of storying and how they can be helpful to this ministry.

Oh, I recently began to use Audacity as you mentioned. I have a new laptop and I was able to get a usb condenser microphone for $70. Now we can do some better sounding recordings.

God bless you,
Steve

That day God spoke to us through one verse Acts18:10 “ I have many people in this city” We come to know that God is going to give His people to us or He is going to introduce His people to us.So We can pray and serve them.
We all together were nine members in Team.

Those who wel comed us .We sung gospel song and sheared testimony with them. Few came forward and ask us to pray for them. We praise God for His amazing work.
It was very hot session in Amravati some time it goes up to 48%dc.c.We all suffered a lot because of more hot. We had not our own vehicle. We prayed God provide us vehicle! So this hot session may not stop us from preaching of gospel to others.

And used that money to provide sweets and snacks to children’s. Seeing children in eating time we used to feel that our stomach is full. We prayed for all children one by one by laying hands on them.

We visited one Bhudhist family there was a man who was on bed more than three years. He became blind and not able move any part of his body. His parents spend lots of money and went witchcrafts for him to be well. but no use. We said If you believe in Jesus you will see miracle. he said yes! When we started pray for him his body began to shake like fish and snake. It was devil spirit man. We cast out that evil spirit in the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Off Crouse it took more than one hour but finally victory was belong to us in Jesus. We helped him to stand and praise God he began to walk in Jesus. Those who were there they amazed and praise God. still he is not able to see but you can pray for him.
We went to Daryapur for four days. we had a wonderful time with children’s and youth. They said we are blessed by your fellowship.
Every Sunday we used to visit churches of Amravati. All main line churches gave us chance to lead in worship and sheared testimony. We had good time with them.
We went to Wardha 100k.m far from Amravati. We prayed for sick. We got chance to preach word of God in C.N.I. Mr.Damle was retired he was suffering financially. He said Please pray for me so I may get job. We all prayed for him. Next day one man came and said I have job for you. We praised God and said Hallelujah! In same place we mate one Christian who married budhist boy. They had no peace in their home. Our some members shared their testimony with them how they belive in Jesus.I t challenged him to put his trust in Jesus. We thanked God for opening his heart for him.
We came back in Amravati by train, we had no sit to sit. Next day we visited General hospital called Irvin. We visited many sick people and asked them can we pray.If they said yes We used to pray for them. It was good time in hospital ministry.
Now we had only two weaks to complete our out-reach in Amravati. We started to work to organized mini-DTS for the youth in Amravati.Whole weak we spend to invite youth for mini-DTS.We hired St.Thomas boys hostel for one weak. Hi Chuck, Thanks so much for your comment on Jan. 10th. Apologies for taking so long to get back. My wife and I just delivered our first child! She'll be one month old tomorrow.

As for the church being technically inclined and using MP3s, we're getting there. As with any technology introduction, there is a learning curve prior to mass adoption by society. You are welcome to offer free Audio Bible downloads from your website. Email me at jon@FaithComesByHearing.com brother!

I've never downloaded Audacity, but I've heard of it. I usually use my little Olympus Digital Recorder and from there use Windows Movie Maker to work with the audio (since the recorder records in WMA format) then I use Switch to put the file into MP3.

I plan to reorganize my computer one of these days, and perhaps I will try Audacity. Is it a free program?

I love your blog! It's encouraged me so much. I've copied and pasted most of what you've written on there and created a booklet to give to my helper. It's been so useful!

My Ministry Websites

My interest is in Historic Church Renewal. These are often mainline or formerly mainline churches with a confessional history from the Reformation. But like any pastor I also deal with regular people "on the street" and in jail too and face the necessity of needing Biblically sound evangelistic methods to reach them for our Lord Jesus Christ.

I was fortunate to have Rev. Jack Day do basic storying training with us here and am grateful for what I learned at ION 2007 in Orlando.

I definitely haven't "figured it all out" by any means. I probably haven't figured anything out really. But I'm learning to incorporate Bible Storying into church renewal.

Bible Story Telling Blog

My biggest difficulty as a bivocational pastor is incorporating Storying into a hectic schedule of 2 sermons weekly plus personal discipleship while maintaining my own personal devotional time. The time to internalize stories for telling is missing. I'm working on finding an 8th day in the week for that!

Your prayers for more preparation time would be appreciated.

Question... Is Anybody Using "Bible Storying" with "Recovery" Type Ministries?

Question... Is Anybody Using "Bible Storying" with "Recovery" Type Ministries?

I'm talking about Celebrate Recovery or another outreach to people with addictions?

I'd like to know.

Thanks.

Paul Miller's The Person of Jesus - Gospel Narratives for Evangelism and Discipleship

In the interesting providence of God, I met Paul Miller, the author of The Person of Jesus when it was at its initial stages of development. That was in the early 90's in Philadelphia PA.

Paul and I have never discussed "orality"(I didn't even know the word then. Did anybody?) and our paths had taken separate ways for many years. Recently they crossed again after J.O. Terry mentioned "narrative… Continue
